Application scenarios and advantages and disadvantages of TC4 screws!

TC4 screws are particularly suitable for applications in aerospace, aircraft, and missiles, which is also the inherent reason why titanium alloy materials, including titanium plates, titanium rods, titanium pipes, and titanium alloy fasteners, can be applied in these high-precision and cutting-edge industries. However, due to the high price of titanium alloy materials, their application has always been limited.

The density of titanium alloy is generally around 4.5g/cm3, which is only 60% of that of steel. The strength of pure titanium is only close to that of ordinary steel, and some high-strength titanium alloys exceed the strength of many alloy structural steels. Therefore, the specific strength (strength/density) of titanium alloy is much higher than that of other metal structural materials, which can produce components with high unit strength, good rigidity, and light weight. At present, titanium alloy is used for the engine components, frame, skin, fasteners, and landing gear of aircraft.

Titanium alloy exhibits superior corrosion resistance in harsh environments, which is also the main reason for its application in chemical equipment manufacturing. It has good high and low temperature characteristics, non magnetization, and lower thermal conductivity and thermal expansion coefficient. From its negative perspective, titanium fasteners are very difficult to process. Moreover, during the installation and locking of threaded fasteners, the threads are easily scratched or stuck. Here are some examples of titanium alloys being sensitive to stress corrosion at appropriate high temperatures. But this situation can be alleviated through some special techniques.

Research has shown that only a small portion of polished titanium alloys are suitable for manufacturing threaded fasteners. Ti-6Al-4V is a heavy-duty alloy, and the Z-small tensile strength of this titanium alloy fastener is 135000psi, with high strength and satisfactory toughness. Ti-6Al-4Mn has great creep resistance and is easy to cast. Its strength characteristics are comparable to Ti-6Al-4V alloy, but its toughness is slightly inferior. The tensile strength of Ti-1Al-8V-5Fe is approximately 200000 psi. What needs to be exaggerated is its outstanding strength to mass ratio. The fastening force of fasteners made of this alloy is equivalent to that of steel fasteners of the same quality with a tensile strength of 350000 psi. The other two titanium alloys, Ti-6Al-12Zr and Ti-6Al-6V-2Sn, are sometimes used in the manufacturing of fasteners.
